SnoreCatcher ("we", "our app") takes your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

Core Principle: Data Never Leaves Your Device. This is the fundamental principle behind SnoreCatcher's development.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Audio Data

  • Collection Method: Uses device microphone to monitor environmental sounds in real-time
  • Processing Method: All audio processing is completed locally on the device using iOS native SoundAnalysis framework for snoring detection
  • Storage Location: Recording files are only saved in the device's local sandbox (Documents directory) and never uploaded to any server
  • Retention Period: Default retention of the last 7 days of recordings, automatically deleted after expiration to save storage space
  • Data Format: Uses AAC compression encoding (.m4a format) to reduce file size

2.2 Metadata

  • Recorded Information: Includes metadata such as recording time, duration, maximum decibel value, etc.
  • Storage Location: Metadata is saved in the sessions.json file on the device locally
  • Purpose: Used to display history records and statistics within the app

2.3 Required Permissions

  • Microphone Permission: Required for listening to and recording snoring sounds
  • Background Running Permission: Allows the app to continue monitoring in background and when screen is locked

3. How We Use Data

  • Local Processing: All audio analysis, snoring detection, and classification are completed locally on the device
  • No Cloud Upload: We do not upload any audio data or personal information to servers
  • Local Display: Recording data is only used to display history records and playback functionality within the app
  • No Third-Party Analysis: We do not share your audio data with any third parties for analysis or other purposes

4. Advertising Services

SnoreCatcher uses Google AdMob to display ads to support app development and maintenance.

4.1 AdMob Data Collection

  • AdMob may collect the following anonymous data for ad personalization:
    • Device identifiers (such as advertising ID)
    • Device type, operating system version
    • Approximate location information (based on IP address)
    • App usage statistics
  • This data is collected directly by Google and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy
  • We do not collect or access this ad-related data

4.2 Ad Types

  • Banner Ads: Permanently displayed at the bottom of the app's main page
  • Interstitial Ads: Displayed during specific actions (such as ending monitoring, viewing details)
  • Rewarded Video Ads: Watch videos to receive 24-hour ad-free experience

4.3 Privacy Settings

You can limit ad tracking in your device settings (Settings → Privacy → Apple Advertising), or reset the advertising identifier in iOS settings. This may affect ad personalization but will not affect the app's core functionality.

5. Data Security

  • Local Storage: All data is stored in the iOS app sandbox, inaccessible by other apps
  • System Protection: Benefits from iOS system security mechanisms, including encrypted file system and app isolation
  • No Network Transmission: Since data is not uploaded, there is no risk of leakage during network transmission
  • Automatic Cleanup: Recordings beyond the retention period are automatically deleted, reducing data accumulation

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not share your audio data. Your snoring recordings and personal information will not be shared with any third parties, including:

  • Other apps or services
  • Data analytics companies
  • Cloud storage services
  • Marketing companies

The only exception is Google AdMob (as described in Section 4), which only collects anonymous ad-related data and does not involve your audio content.

7. Your Rights

  • Access Data: You can view all saved recording records within the app at any time
  • Delete Data: You can manually delete recording records within the app, or uninstall the app to delete all data
  • Control Permissions: You can revoke microphone permissions at any time in iOS settings
  • Stop Using: You can stop using the app at any time, and no data will be collected after stopping

8. Children's Privacy

SnoreCatcher is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

9. Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For significant changes, we will post a notice in the app or on the website. We recommend that you review this page periodically to stay informed about the latest policy. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
